Scopettone (toilet sign)

Although for many I am simply “the architect” – and matter-of-factly that’s my hard and not so well respected profession – there’s someone (I am not going to tell the name, but it start with ‘j’ and ends with ‘ep’) that keeps on telling me now and then that, at the end of the day, I’d made a good graphic designer. Sometimes I think about it, and perhaps it’s true. For sure I am not a very prolific one, it’ already a lot if I produce one or two things per year. Anyway these are the works I made for bastard in the past… Read the rest of this entry »

Designing Designers: Offices and workplaces for knowledge workers

Designing Designers: Offices and workplaces for knowledge workers

The book of the Designing Designers 2008 conference where I attended some months ago with Francesca Murialdo and Lorenzo Bini of studiometrico, has just been published.

[...] Modern communication technologies connected to the new globalized economies have created a fresh way of working that influences both space organization and methodological aspects. New offices and workplaces are created to host updated requirements, thus being substantially transformed. New type of workers – the so called knowledge workers – have introduced innovative ways of living and interacting with the working spaces [...]

Four pages and some pictures of Giuliano Berarducci are dedicated to our COMVERT HQ.

Edited in english language from POLI.design you will find it soon at the bastard store or at the bookstore Hoepli or libreriauniversitaria.it for € 23,00.

by davidelp April 20 2009

interni-salone2009
On Interni 53, special issue attached to Panorama, they just published a review on COMVERT HQ. On the two pages by Anita Martinelli, let alone a couple of tiny mistakes, we can see three nice photos of Giuliano Berarducci. For you, trustee readers of this blog, I believe COMVERT HQ has no more secrets, but in attachment you have the fuori salone guide, which lists events, parties and whatever else is of interest during Salone del Mobile 2009. See you around for an appletini toast!

COMVERT HQ & bastard bowl design

by jep November 18 2008

On archinfo.it is published an article with the details of the bastard bowl construction, illustrations and a general view of the COMVERT Headquarter project.

On domus web there is an article with the main project and a few pics.

ITALIAN LANGUAGE ONLY.

They used a shot of Daniel Cardone frontside flippin over the extension of the bowl, taken by Giuliano Berarducci the day after the Grand Opening (ONLYWOOD), I put here the original pic at a better resolution.

The RHINO rush!

by MAS™ May 29 2008

tool, rhino, multipurpose, attrezzo, skate, snow, surf

It seems those eminent doctors from ADI even spotted some good news through the usual big brands of italian design.

The clever RHINO bastard is small but strong! With sure rams he got a rilevant place on the pages of ADI Design Index, amongst the bunch of renowned signatures like Pininfarina or Renzo Piano.

Since 1954 the ADI foundation for italian design holds every year the Compasso d’Oro prize, for notable results in projects, products and research that took place inside the national boundaries.

The best wishes are all for Enrique Luis Sardi, because he’s the friend who tamed the beast, together with the precious hints of our man, Max Bonassi.

Fridge-van Spaghetto

by jep April 13 2008

Gianluca Mariani and Carletto Lalumera, two long time skaters from Milano, today discovered to the people at the local Parco Lambro Skatepark, their fridge-van Spaghetto that you can see in the pics below.

Frigo-van Spaghetto

Frigo-van Spaghetto

  • useful – keeps cool many beers
  • beautiful – the design speaks for itself
  • transportable – with balanced wheels it can ride on the worst terrains and you can take it with you everywhere
  • ecologic – instead of trashing an old fridge and a cradle you can reuse them cleverly. Loaded with ice blocks it keeps the temperature for the whole day.
  • economic – go visiting your attic and maybe you’ll find all the materials to build your own version

If this is their contribution to the upcoming design week in Milano… Design Award ad honorem!
