Gil and The Devil

by lorebini July 10 2010

Lately I am listening over and over to the latest record from Gil Scott-Heron. The great African American singer and Godfather of Hip Hop is eventually out of jail, and if he doesn’t make any more troubles he’s going to perform in Vigevano next week. Today I was checking out the video of one of my favourite songs of the album: Me and The Devil. Hey!… Who are those guys? The Warriors?

Record Club

While working tonight I have listened to the songs that Beck Hansen has published on Record Club, a new section of his website. Since he loves to play with his friends, Beck has decided to re-do and contaminate some fundamental records in the history of music. The beginning is quite promising:  Songs of Leonard Cohen and The Velvet Underground & Nico. What else can I say… I can’t wait for the next one!

Sud Sound System in Milano

by GroS September 14 2009

The italian reggae band Sud Sound System came by our offices on thursday to personally invite us at their concert wich was held the same night at the PD party. They even rocked our gear on stage!

We took some pictures here in our offices and then again at the concert, check’em out… I realize that the equation is now crystal clear: Sud Sound System stands for Salento as much as Bob Marley stands for Jamaica. Go see for yourself next summer in Salento! Next dates Bologna and Rome!

Iron Maiden: Flight 666

by GroS July 6 2009

iron_maiden_flight_666

The other day, me and my friend Nikki were talking about heavy metal movies, I suggest him to watch the movie of Anvil and he recommended me to watch Flight 666. It’s a Rockumentary about the last world tour, 23 concerts, 5 continents in 45 days! But is not an “on the road” kind of movie, they flew a board of the Ed force one, a Boeing 757 with the singer of the band Bruce Dickinson as a pilot… I can’t call it an “eco friendly tour”, over 50000 miles, but more frendly than the Pope for sure! The Maiden are playing around since 1975 and, in the last tour they brought their energy everywhere. It’s something really close to religion for some of the Iron Maiden fans. Some of them wait for all their lifes just to see one of them shows. I cried. Click here to watch the movie.

Yari rocks the house @ Vans Off the wall Music Stage

by giuli May 27 2009

Last night we checked out the “Those Furious Flames” in concert, leaded by Yari Copt, who’s also captain in charge of the Lugano skate crew “Warriors“, and owner of the local skateshop “The Joker Shop“.

The event was promoted by Vans and featured two other bands: “Dragoni” and “Miasma”.

Beautiful location, Lido Lugano, with plenty of good people and chilled out by the lake’s fresh breeze, something we can only dream of out here in Milano!

Things learned: that Lugano and Zurich are two different places, that Yari definetely rocks, and that switzerland is practically heaven on earth, i’d most likely raise my kids out there, as long as they don’t become junkies, or even worse, bankers! :)

ANVIL! the story of Anvil

by GroS May 4 2009

anvil-manifesto

Do you remeber Anvil? they are a thrash metal band from Canada that in the middle 80’s rocks the world like Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax etc… But they never become “rock stars” like the other bands. The movie is about Steve “Lips” Kudlow and Robb Reiner, their friendship and the dream they will never give up. It’s not only “rock n roll” it’s about heart and balls, about people who chose a way to live no matter what happen. Chlick here to watch the full movie.
