Nowhere in the history of modern society has art been such a prevalent part of a subculture than in Skateboarding.

From June 18 to 30 bastard, Skateboard Stickers Archive and Blacklisted magazine present Art of The Misfits and Wild Ones at bastard store in Milano.

The exhibition, that gathers a selection of the most iconic stickers spanning three decades, is curated by skater and collector Alejandro Melo and is a “homage to the thousands of unsung heroes and underrated artists that help build an entire culture and influence a whole era of art”.

Grand opening on Monday June 18 at 6PM in the mini gallery of the foyer downstairs at bastard store in via Scipio Slataper 19 a Milano where for the occasion of the Red Bull Skate Week start and for the whole week, we’ll host a beer garden curated by Ceres and skate sessions every afternoon until 10:30PM.

On Tuesday, starting in the morning we’ll run silkscreen workshop on the topic and in collaboration with CORPOC (free registration on Eventbrite, only 12 seats available, italian and english language).

For the whole exhibition an informal stickers’ swap exchange market is on schedule and stickers giveaways too.

If you’ve ever had the chance to visit the bastard store and climb up upstairs, where we run our offices, you’ve probably met Mattia Turco and checked out his studio with his latest works.

With the 3x3x3 project by Vans – a skate deck series of 3, designed by 3 skaters in collaboration with their 3 supporting skateshops – we’ve worked on a skate deck and on a special t-shirt to represent the synthesis of the expressive research of Mattia today.

The 30 pieces run limited edition deck by Mattia (signed and numbered) and the bastard Rain t-shirt, are now available online.

Bastard is proud to present Le Chine di Clazio, an exhibition of illustrations and personal artworks by Claudio Santoro.

The grand opening will be on Saturday the 27th of January at 6pm at the bastard store, located in via Scipio Slataper 19 (M5 Istria) until Saturday 10th of February.

Without concerns Claudio is the most talented artist in the milanese skateboarding scene throughout the last ten years, and it’s pretty hard to think about an event, skate party or contest’s leaflet that he hasn’t illustrated.

With this exhibition we want to give the right recognition to the most beloved local skater of all time. A natural talent that, with a pen, can show what us mortals, with difficultties, can’t even explain. An unmistakable style that perfectly matches the same unmistakable style he’s got on that wooden kid’s toy.

When we discovered that Russ Pope would have been in Milan for the opening of a group art exhibition, we immediately asked him if he could make a new masterpiece on the main wall of the bowl, to be inaugurated with a healthy skate session with friends. And he agreed.

This time-lapse video depicts the making of Russ’ mural, on the main bastard bowl‘s wall, the day preceding the grand opening of the collective art exhibit “California Sun” at galleria Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea in Milano.

Mattia Turco is one of the most powerful skaters around in Milan and a great artist with his own technical painting skills that keeps evolving. He is part of our family.

This timelapse video made by photographer André Lucat depicts the making of Mattia’s first mural, painted on bastard bowl‘s main wall as a tribute to Vans for its 50 Years Anniversary that we celebrated at bastard store on March 25th, 2016. It consists of 5 days of shooting, condensed in almost three minutes and delighted by the great Ella Fitzgerald.

As frequent users of the bowl, we couldn’t ask for more!

Filler is a convention dedicated to illustrations, graphics and art linked to the punk/hardcore/skater world. All projects embrace the DIY movement.

Created by Thunderbeard, Filler is a three days event from December 11th to December 13th. There will be over 40 exhibitors with their own area for vending. The infamous bastard bowl will only be reserved for those who book the sessions in the bowl in advance. There will be “gifts for tricks” exchanges where during the skate sessions, prizes will be granted to the gnarliest tricks.

According to Paolo Proserpio “American Presidents have a beautiful haircut”, enough to win the main wall of the bastard bowl with the Wall Paint Contest 2015.

Starting May 7, a two months delirium made of acrylics, wood, cockroaches, pigeons, Big Babols, spray cans, nails and screws, reveals details and pieces of the pop culture. Jackie, the most stylish wife of all (John Fitzgerald Kennedy R.I.P. 1963) is effigy of the brand of the Presidents’ hair lacquer: Hair Cut.

A pattern on the label mix sacred and profane: Lee Harvey Oswald (killer of Kennedy) with Jack Ruby (killer of the killer of the 35th president), whose eponymous band is also the soundtrack of these two months of work.

The 60 Jaquelines Lee Bouvier watch with their third eye on the 5 presidents of the 5 American notes: 1, 5, 10, 20 and 100 sprouting from the bowl (such as the Rocky Mountains) in size 8.10 x 1.90 meters with an optical pattern.

Presidents’ Hair Cut was installed on July 4, 2015: Independence Day.
