No, it’s not a rendering: this project, resulted from a collaboration between bastard and the venetian luxury shoes brand Golden Goose, kept us busy during the whole month of August. We moved the milanese ‘bastard bowl’ to Venice, for a truly special event in the lagoon.

Being a proper wooden skate bowl 15×15 meters in size and around 20 tons in weight placed on a 42 meters (10 wide thou) barge, we are pretty proud of how things went on backstage, on and off the construction site!

Don’t worry as the bowl will soon have it’s new indoor home ;)

Sunday May 26 the bastard store is in the Open House Milano IV Edizione program, closing the Milano Arch Week. Open House Milano is a whole weekend dedicated to public and private buildings with a relevant footprint in architecture, supported by dedicated and volunteer guides.

Come to discover by yourself how we put a bowl for skateboarding upthere in the ex Cinema Istria now bastard store.

Access is for Sunday only, no booking required and with the following schedule: 10am to 6pm.

Visits’ duration will be 45′ in groups of maximum 20 people and with the following starting each hour: 10am / 11am / 12am / 1pm / 2pm / 3pm / 4pm / 5pm / 6pm.

From June 18 to 30 bastard, Skateboard Stickers Archive and Blacklisted magazine present Art of The Misfits and Wild Ones at bastard store in Milano.

The exhibition, that gathers a selection of the most iconic stickers spanning three decades, is curated by skater and collector Alejandro Melo and is a “homage to the thousands of unsung heroes and underrated artists that help build an entire culture and influence a whole era of art”.

Grand opening on Monday June 18 at 6PM in the mini gallery of the foyer downstairs at bastard store in via Scipio Slataper 19 a Milano where for the occasion of the Red Bull Skate Week start and for the whole week, we’ll host a beer garden curated by Ceres and skate sessions every afternoon until 10:30PM.

On Tuesday, starting in the morning we’ll run silkscreen workshop on the topic and in collaboration with CORPOC (free registration on Eventbrite, only 12 seats available, italian and english language).

For the whole exhibition an informal stickers’ swap exchange market is on schedule and stickers giveaways too.

Saturday May 5 and Sunday 6 the bastard store opens its door for the Open House Milano 2018:  a whole weekend dedicated to public and private buildings with a relevant footprint in architecture, supported by dedicated and volunteer guides.

We met during last January for that epic skate/signing session in the bastard bowl that eventually came out on the tube, filmed by DogTown skater and photographer Pep Williams for the video of the song Living For Life off the band latest record World Gone Mad.

Then we stayed in contact to develop this ultra limited bastard x Suicidal Tendencies clothing co-op collection off some of the most appreciated bastard’s classics. It’s the first time we ever dedicate a special limited edition version of our cargo pants to a collaboration project, we just had to find the right thing yet. We hope you enjoy it.

Made in Italy is often used as a synonym for quality… but can quality be locked up by countries and borders? So what does Proudly Made by Those Lazy Italians mean?

Quality (ethics, culture, aesthetics, practice), this word emptied of every sincere semantic value in the era of scientific method, is the subject of this brief tale. The subject is called Bali collection … or rather Bali connection. Two inputs, one sentence/one scenario: “I would never sell anything I wouldn’t wear” / Bali: The most beloved Indonesian island by surfers around the world.

The bond between the Lazy Italians and the small Balinese producers who make the product undermines any relationship of contemporary neocolonial “subjection”. Thedy is a friend, designer and producer who manufactures high quality garments, with his small family business, according to traditional Indonesian techniques (batik for example). What does it mean? It means that when you choose the bastard brand you buy horizontal collaboration between designer and producer, in a tune that blends local Balinese culture with the creative mindset of a team that pushes counterculture since 1994. It means that what you have in your hands is a product developed in a pure collaborative way, a “revolutionary” way of running the global economy: what you have in your hands is complicity between different cultures that speak the same language, is the rendezvous of countless of ideas fused into that forge of culture which is the bastard store… a place crossed by hundreds of creative, practical, technical people, who deposit scraps of culture by simply walking through the office. This culture is captured and synthesized with wisdom by old loose dogs.

What you have in your hands is a fragment of Milanese history at risk of extinction: the concrete story of a middle finger raised against the fashion market. Here “we do not sell ourselves out” and above all “we do not sell you fairy tales”, just reality, just what we are.

After all these talks on skateboarding, Olympics and athletes, we felt forced to develop a new collection of products inspired by athletic heritage, but with a contemporary twist that brings it back to reality and into the streets for the youth of today.

Tomorrow we will run faster.

We are happy to present the result of this limited collaboration between bastard and ADE Shoes, based first and foremost on personal friendship, shared values ​​and the technical needs of the founders of the respective brands. This co-op has its roots in the mid-80s when Max Bonassi (bastard) and Fabio Di Molfetta (ADE) were travelling around Europe in search of new spots to skate and started building ramps to share with friends respectively in the north and south of the italian peninsula. Often they were carrying the silver duck tape to plug the holes in their shoes and make them last a bit longer.

With over three decades of skateboarding behind and hundreds of shoe styles tested, from all the major companies in the industry, who better would know what the foot of a skater requires to ensure he can continue to play for the rest of life?
