When Washington D.C.’s skater and photographer Anthony Smallwood (@brokensquare on the gram) stopped by the bastard store for a visit sometime ago, he had told us about his ongoing work on the documentary photo book of a pool skating scene located in Washington DC. It was too good for not to spread the word in our circle.

The Termite pool has a nice story behind its name. The pool was found in a property on sale, the skaters drained it and started riding it, until the day the whole property got sold and they had to leave… just, in the meanwhile, they discovered that the whole property was infested by termites!

“As soon as the new homeowners discover the termite infestation and move out, we’ll drain it again”

— A. Smallwood

That was enough for a bastard Jammin t-shirt in the Photographers Series. We just added some tiles framing to the photo and the hourglass.

The book will be published by magnum photographer David Alan Harvey’s burnbooks, go to burnmagazine.org for updates.

In the Spring bastard Jammin’ collection we collaborated with two photographers that contributed to keep the Italian skateboarding media alive in the late nineties and early 2000s.

Giuliano Berarducci doesn’t need any intro, having documented almost everything happen in bastard, just look at his website, giulianoberarducci.com to find some of the most epic bastard store shots. Gabriele Lopez has photographed the skateboarding and hardcore scene during the 90’s, then he started a more artistic path documented on his personal book “Stories by Gabriele Lopez”.

The T-shirts Swing by Giuliano Berarducci, London and Grasshopper by Gabriele Lopez are available in selected stores and at the bastard store.

One of the most striking features of Matteo Perazzoli‘s work is to play with words and their anagrams.

bastard → badrats …this t-shirt fits like a glove for skaterats like us.

The t-shirt Badrats is part of the Jammin’ collection and is available in selected stores besides the bastard store.

Our friend and co-worker Motoki Yoshio, beside working as designer and teaching since many years, knows how to draw with a ballpoint pen. For bastard he digged deeper at the roots of lucky and dissected one of the most iconic objects of japanese culture: maneki-neko.

You can still find his super limited Neko t-shirt in some shops and of course in our own bastard store. Good luck!

We asked Pietro Sedda to develop a graphic of one of our snowboards and we get the result that we were dreaming.

If you are into the tattoo scene the name Pietro Sedda will sound familiar.
Nowadays, permanent skin ink has been accepted and mainstreamed.
This, however, doesn’t affect Pietro Sedda: he’s an artist by nature, only guilty of having chosen ink and skin as his tools to express his personal vision.

The Sedda snowboard is available at the bastard store.

We share a lot with Rough Snowboards, we are both italian, we are both a snowboard company, we are small but we tend to think big, but the most important thing that we have in common is that we deeply believe in the Do It Yourself way of life.

So we decided to start a Rough-bastard Jammin’ collection.

The United board represents Todd’s vision of independence and freedom. Anything else? oh yes… the United is made by Rough with the original construction that makes snowboarding easier.

Then we design the Knife hooded coach jacket, waterproof and functional for snowboarding but also easy and stylish for chilling out. The Knife jacket is oricamo allover printed with the “United for independence” artwork printed on back.

Last but not least the Wings t-shirt.

The entire collection is available at the bastard store.

We don’t need to add anything to the Zamoc speech, it well describes Alvvino. We only want to say that he’s the designer of the Glorious t-shirt.

If you don’t know Alvvino, he’s the typical nerd snuck between bullies, with the cashmere sweater tied over his shoulders and his moped parked in front of the emergency exit. He is respected by all, good and bad people. He’s fastidiously but authentic, gruff but dandy. Alvvino is beyond good and evil, like The Little Prince, but he has sexual appetite. I met him for the first time during my wandering in Berlin, heavy rain clouds covered the sky. Alvvino’s look was perfect with his umbrella matching his jacket color. However Alvvino has not only elegance and snobbery, he’s always working on design projects, he collaborates with the best European brands, he designs important editorial exhibitions, pubblications and breath-taking art-shows. – ZAMOC

Luca Zamoc was born in the mid eighties and learned the first drawing notions from comic books, the bible and anatomy books. He later on moves to Milano to take an art direction and graphic design course at Nuova Accademia dell’Arte art academy. He draws on any media, from walls to paper to digital illustrations. He recently left again left his gray hometown, the city of Modena, moving subsequently to Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, London, Venice and now Istanbul.

May he have changed since we last saw him? Judging from the clothes he designed for the bastard collection, he is still his same old self, but like a good wine, his art just gets better with age.

Death is the only big theme in my work.

I’m not good at describing life, i don’t know how to use colors, i can’t draw people (women in particular) and i can’t tell anything pleasant. If you visit my tumblr it’s all guts, monsters and assassins.

Here is the exclusive Interview with the Death.
