Paris Photo 2008
by giuli 18 November 2008I just came back from Paris Photo 2008, a must go in the international photography scenario. All the main galleries and agencies worldwide were showing their images at the Carrousell du Louvre de Paris. And many interesting shows all around town, grand openings and whatnot. Guest of Honour was Japan, well portrayed with the work of the legendary Nobuyoshi Araki and many others.
Altough the three days at the Carroussell finished on Sunday November 16th, many exhibitions that were opened up in these days will stay up until January, some even ’til February. So if you happen to be in Paris in the next two months and you’re interested in photography, i suggest to give it a look.
Among the many things, i recommend “Exactitudes”; an interesting project that put a smile on my face. Rotterdam based photographer Arli Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek shot in the last 14 years trying to strike the heterogenous “dress codes” of the street. So they bless us with these 112 panels of “urban types”. Below is the panel titled “Skaters”, a little bit of an oldie, but still close to us. Funny watching the skate community “frozen” in 1997, so far away style-wise, but so close in memories. Besides Skaters, Rockers and Hipsters you can check’em all out at exactitudes.com.
