This bastard ad was the first one of a series on italian movies… Io sto con gli ippopotami with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill (1979).
It was never published but we’ve always kept the draft hanging on the wall in our offices as it was too cool and it portrays Marcin and Nikolai together.
The first issue of the wagazine – that is the Warriors skateboards magazine – has just been published. With them bastard runs a collabo on some clothes since a few seasons.
It’s 138 pages of skateboarding and the transfer above of Julien Benoliel in the Marseille skatepark well represents the mood. Take a look.
The book italiArchitettura (UTET edizioni) is part of a serie dedicated to italian architecture studios. This fourth volume deals with interiors and consists of more than threehundred pages, fourteen dedicated to the bastard store project of studiometrico.
Until now I think this is the best documentation ever published, with technical drawings and high quality details of the construction of the bastard bowl.
– Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi
You can buy the book online.
Watch out english readers as the book is written in italian only!
Andrea Vecchi got trapped in Chengdu – big city in the southwest part of China – during his last trip for the new bastard samples check, as his VISA ran out of validity. Government authorities attached two cops to him with the order to follow him everywhere.
If you are travelling China and need a safe guide for the country…
Here below is direct tale and more pictures:
While I was in transit for Shanghai, they realized my VISA ran out of validity on december the 30th 2010. So they stopped me at the airport while I was struggling to solve the problem. Chinese people feel very sorry in these kind of situations so they helped me out a lot, let me call from their cells, offered me tea and always spoke on my behalf.
As it was Sunday there was nothing to do and so I asked to spend the night in a nearby hotel. At that point these two young and shy cops arrived. They did not speak english and were triyng to act serious even if often they couldn’t help laughing about the situation… they were always on my side and were taking turns to sleep – after breakfast they both passed out though – and they wouldn’t even let me look at my passport. Such an experience! I think i may even have developed Stockholm syndrome!
On the new issue of the online skateboard mag a brief glance – made by italian photographer Davide Biondani – is published this double page spread of a Blind ad with Marco Lambertucci deeply nose grinding.
We love Olimpia Zagnoli‘s work – in the next bastard Artistuff collection out in march 2010 there is an Olimpia’s artwork on t-shirt – but I knew a little about her hystory. I discovered that she went as a child to the famous Reggio Emilia’s kindergartens, which I met some time ago.
In this video that resumes her recent lecture at AIGA/NY she talks about herself, her inspiration sources and her work in New York.
Braun Publishing just published Chris van Uffelen’s Re-Use Architecture, a 408 pages bulky book with amazing images and descriptions of recent and notable re-use architecture projects.
To the bastard store project by studiometrico, on the refurbishing of the old Cinema Istria, the book dedicates a four page feature with Giuliano Berarducci’s photographs.
Available from today at bastard store – of course – for € 78,00.

Invited at the conference Bello Giusto Efficace of Art for Business at the Triennale in Milano I had the pleasure to meet Howard Gardner and spend a few words with him.
I discovered that he’s the one that exposed – in the last thirty years – the kindergartens of Reggio Emilia, that nowadays are taken as models ef excellence in many parts of the world… and suddenly realized why I was invited to talk about the bastard store ;)

In this context, Architecure and space utilization are perhaps important tools to help keeping a free stream of information and stimulate transfer of competence and skills from one area to another, beacuse different areas require different kinds of intelligence.
