bastard will be at the Bright tradeshow in Frankfurt from July 11 to 13. Ground floor, room n° 44.

[lang_de]vom 11. bis 13. Juli findet die Bright Tradeshow in Frankfurt statt. bastard wird auch dort sein: Erdgeschoss, Raum Nr. 44. Uhrzeit: 10.00 bis 18.00.

Die Bright Tradeshow ist fast ausschliesslich dem Skateboarding gewidmet (einschliesslich Bowl im Inneren und Skatepark im äußeren Bereich). Auch wenn sich die Bright Tradeshow hauptsächlich auf den deutschen Markt bezieht ist sie doch auch ein wichtiger europäischer Treffpunkt und bietet einen Überblick über den Produktmarkt.[/lang_de]

The structure for the bowl is almost completed without hand cutting any of the planned components… for the rest of us used to build ramps making adjustments with the saw, working at a millimetric level of detail sounds incredible!

This week the work on the bowl site slowed down a bit due to some building components not easy to produce… and the Polish worker (a.k.a. Marcin Solecki) being injured at the Parco Lambro skatepark. Nothing too serious and he’ll be back on board soon. On the other hand Giuliano Berarducci joined us to document the site with pictures beside working on a couple of parallel projects that sound pretty interesting.

Giuliano is the founder of the roman skateshop First Love, creator of the fanzine OrangeValleyEnt and he takes quality skatebording shots since 2001. He is one of the few Italian photographers that sport pictures published on Skateboarder, Thrasher and The Skateboard Mag. When he is not stuck in Milano he works for Affiliate in Chicago.

I don’t get in touch often with rokma but when it happens he always has something interesting to share. Today he sent me the link to this documentary film that I didn’t know anything about, streamable and downloadable from the web:

Talks about Power and observe the world from a critical perspective… kicks asses but is a bit unclear about some of the sources.

If (obviously) we don’t have to take for truth what is shown on a television that maybe we do not even watch anymore… what about YouTube or Google Video? Is it a different kind?.

Gianluca Mariani and Carletto Lalumera, two long time skaters from Milano, today discovered to the people at the local Parco Lambro Skatepark, their fridge-van Spaghetto that you can see in the pics below.

• useful – keeps cool many beers
• beautiful – the design speaks for itself
• transportable – with balanced wheels it can ride on the worst terrains and you can take it with you everywhere
• ecologic – instead of trashing an old fridge and a cradle you can reuse them cleverly. Loaded with ice blocks it keeps the temperature for the whole day.
• economic – go visiting your attic and maybe you’ll find all the materials to build your own version

If this is their contribution to the upcoming design week in Milano… Design Award ad honorem!

On Wednesday, April 9, starting at 6.30 PM bastard will open the doors of his Milan HeadQuarter for a meeting organized by the friends of OpenSpime. The event is open to every hardware hacker, but registration is required.

Today we received nuts, bolts, screws etc. from Fixing Systems for the assembly of the bastard bowl that we’ll start to build during the next week… it’s a 200 Kg. box with 8200 pieces inside!

These are the parts for the structure only, the layers are excluded… what a useless wooden toy!
