The Last Call – Winter 2011

by jep 8 February 2011

There are a thousand reasons for having a Skateboarding tradeshow, and no reason for not making it …

After the summer experiment, The Last Call is hosted at the Lambretto Art Project in Milano for its first winter edition on february 12, 13, 14 2011.

The Last Call is the only skateboarding tradeshow created and managed by the main heads of the italian skateboard business, among which Max Bonassi.

Skateboarding, surprise contests, excellent video screenings and all the latest news from the industry.

We will be there with the product previews for bastard, Jart and Electric products, come visit our booth.

Launch Party #29

by davidelp 8 February 2011

On wednesday, January 26th at the COMVERT headquarters we celebrated the launch for the Fall Winter 2011-12 bastard, Electric and JART collections with the Launch Party #29 – and yeah, we’re already at our twentyninth collection!

Fresco distribution contributed with a supply of the new excellent BSA beer and with a selection of products from MatixLakaiDVSMakia and Brixton. The Iraola brothers, owners of JART, replied bringing in the mix a couple of good skaters to warm the bowl session and a Jamón ibérico that they personally sliced up for the attendees.

We have tried to behave but it was hard…

The bastard store upstairs showroom will stay open for orders by appointment starting this week through March 10th.

Our Friends Are Our Heroes – Warriors Skateboards

by giuli 8 February 2011

Yari Copt refers to the Warriors as a very serious Swiss skate company. Everytime i go to Lugano for a photoshoot i come home exhausted. But watching Gilles Gallicchio, Martino Cattaneo, Igor Fardin & co. skate in real life pays me back everytime.

The Warriors are true veterans to the Jammin’ project. This is the fourth bastard Warriors collection, the clothing has evolved but the concept stays the same: 100% skate apparel.

Their latest video project Come Out To Skate was presented a few weeks ago and is available online, soon out in dvd.

Warriors magazine a.k.a. Wagazine

by jep 8 February 2011

The first issue of the wagazine – that is the  Warriors skateboards magazine – has just been published. With them bastard runs a collabo on some clothes since a few seasons.

It’s 138 pages of skateboarding and the transfer above of Julien Benoliel in the Marseille skatepark well represents the mood. Take a look.

Random Video presents Matteo Borgardt

by davidelp 8 February 2011

Random just published a new clip to present the riders of  Too Much Too Serious.

The new clip is dedicated to Matteo Borgardt aka Whatza, an American snowboarder grown up between California and Colorado. Whatza decided to settle in Italy after a short trip in the Alps.

It seems that he feels comfortable around here.

Random Video presents Lukas Goller

by davidelp 8 February 2011

The guys at Random Video spend most of the year closely with Lukas and Watza. I assume they spend more time with them than with their girlfriends.
At the end of the year everything summarizes in a three minute videopart, that are often not enough to tell the whole story.
This is why Random adds the “Random Presents” clips: 45 seconds with the riders featured in Too Much Too Serious. Here’s the clip dedicated to Lukas Goller.

p.s. Lukas has also designed with Andrea Vecchi the snowear bastard 2010 collection. Keep up the good work Luki!

ICONOLOGIA

by MAS™ 8 February 2011

A four hands project from Rise Above and Scarful on iconology, in collaboration with Profile Expo & Grab Magazine.

The two roman artists realize a multidisciplinary concept in which they describe themselves today, through simbologies in classical culture, encoded four hundred years ago by Cesare Ripa, che fin dal 1593 rationally classifies the numerous allegories and simbologies layered up in centuries of cultural history.

Figures coming from classicism, religion, philosophy as well as arts, crafts or simple popular traditions, reviewed in an encyclopedical work in which in which figures and oggetti simbolici vengono accorpati e rielaborati con sapienza.

An impressive overview of iconographic figures, each one describing a modus, a virtue, a phisical or mind place , an attitude or character.

From december 23, 2010 to january 10, 2011 on
MON · TUE · FRI · SAT, from 10am to 7pm, at Profile Expo – Piazza di Spagna, 51 · Roma.

Olimpia Zagnoli Small Talk

by jep 8 February 2011

We love Olimpia Zagnoli‘s work – in the next bastard Artistuff collection out in march 2010 there is an Olimpia’s artwork on t-shirt – but I knew a little about her hystory. I discovered that she went as a child to the famous Reggio Emilia’s kindergartens, which I met some time ago.

In this video that resumes her recent lecture at AIGA/NY she talks about herself, her inspiration sources and her work in New York.

Random Video at bastard store

by davidelp 8 February 2011

Matteo Borgardt, a.k.a. Whatza, back from his spiritual trip around India, just came by to say what’s up. He showed up with Alessandro Miniotti, a.k.a. Killer, deus ex machina of Random Video.

Killer gave us the last few copies available of Too Much Too Serious, italian snowboard movie produced by Random Video, with two terrific videoparts by Whatza and Lukas Goller along with Tato Chiala, Lorenzo Barbieri and Filippo Kratter, just to mention a few. If you didn’t see yet come to the bastard store to grab your own copy, it comes for free with the november issue of Sequence.

As a reward, we gave Killer a brand new Degree jacket so that he can stay warm and protected during the filming sessions for the next video.
