bastard store – building of the year 2009 nomination

by davidelp 12 February 2010

During 2009 ArchDaily turned into the most visited architecture website and this doesn’t surprise us at all, having seen the amount of contacts that their post published in May brought to the bastard store. ArchDaily chose to celebrate its successes of the last year with the Building Of  The Year 2009 award, voted from the readers.

Now the bastard store has made it into the finals by entering the Top 5 of the interiors section… and it’s huge considering the large number of projects in nomination, but we still need the final touch by all supporters provided with Facebook or Twitter.

You can vote for the bastard store by following this link:

Warriors Skateboards – ISPO 2010

by davidelp 12 February 2010

Warriors Skateboards proudly announces its first presence at the ISPO tradeshow in Münich (Germany) from February 7th through February 10th, Hall A2 – Booth 348A.

You will find the Warriors just behind the MiniRamp, so that you will easily enjoy the runs of Igor Fardin, Kevin Blaser and Martino Cattaneo.

The warriors will have a little booth with many surprises… need anticipations? Pirate Bar with free drinks for all visitors, tatoo area with pirate girls ready to tatoo Warriors logos all over the place, and last but not least, Warriors WAR OF THE WALL contest, on the wallride build by IOU Ramps with whom we had a collabo out in FW 2009.

Besides these tasty entertainment sessions, Warriors will be presenting the skate series Myths, 5 artists for 5 decks inspired by mythological creatures, and the new bastard Jammin collection FW 2010, of which we offer a peep preview below.

Everything That Creeps

by Ambra 12 February 2010

A bunch of new and old interesting books has just arrived at the bastard store; among them Everything That Creeps.

Elizabeth McGrath, LA angel-faced artist, collects in this book some of her most creeping, bloody and repulsive creatures.

An irriverent sculptress who has created a fantafreaky world, populated by odd and freaky characters meant to be hung on your wall or to be displayed on your nightstand (she has her beloved dead and stuffed chihuahua on hers).

On the one shelf on which you put your childood relics, next to Goldrake, you could also put a McGrath’s sexy doll with bloody legs, or some drunk miniature insects or, if you really love animals, a chopped hare head.

The deep-dark iconography of Elizabeth shocks, amazes and amuses, her sculptures are full of truculent details and they evoke disturbing atmospheres “a la David Lynch” but thanks to the wise mixture of kitsch, irony and horror they come out excessive yet refined.

Here’s a video recently featured on Boing Boing tv in which David Pescovitz meets Liz McGrath.

Lupi on Slide Skatestore video

by GroS 12 February 2010

A few days ago Lupi sent me this video as an appetizer to show me what he is doing in Spain.
With the Nomad team they are in fact going to start filming for the next video, a sort of tour that will involve all their riders and see them in the most famous spots in Spain and beyond.
As usual, the soundtrack of the video of Lupi rocks.

Marco Lambertucci indoor session

by GroS 12 February 2010

Winter in Italy, altough quite mellow, for us, spoiled italian skaters, is always a bit of a special season, cold and adverse weather conditions prevent the daily practice. That’s when somebody comes out with the idea of using somebody’s father’s warehouse, that can become a nice spot with everything you need for a fun sesh.
The spot is Andy’s warehouse in Pesaro and the footage is from young filmer Van Khokhlo. Good Job Sbrauser

GroS itw on OnBoard #85

by davidelp 12 February 2010

Recently On Board magazine hosts a section held by Zoran Filicic. He interviews people that somehow left their mark in the history of snowboarding in Italy.
On issue 85 there is room for GroS (a.k.a. the fattest of the bastard founders!), who tells us a little bit of his personal history, from the beginning of snowboarding and skateboarding in Italy up until today.
So it’s a good chat with Zoran from which stem thoughts, criticisms and funny stories.

Dowload the GroS interview on OnBoard (italian language only) if you want to know more about our favourite event speaker.

Product Preview Electric + bastard #27

by jep 12 February 2010

Last wednesday at the COMVERT Hq we really tested the Milano showroom with the Launch Party #27, that showcased bastard and Electric products for Fall Winter 2010, dedicated to retailers, distributors, sales reps, collaborators and friends.

The showroom will be open everyday on appointment for sales, starting next week. The only missing ingredient is now a ‘Showroom Manager’, and for this purpose we’re examining the last curricula that get submitted to us through the job opportunity posted here (italian language required).

Lukas on Entry #31

by GroS 12 February 2010

On Entry snowboard magazine #31 you can read a nice interview of Lukas Goller. For once, snowboarding gets left apart in order to explore his artistic attitude.

First of all Lukas is a free minded person who tries to express himself through ways he likes. In fact this three pages interview is more about his way of seeing art than about snowboarding.

Lukas collaborated to the designing of the outerwear for next winter introducing notable innovations. He’s also the author of the “Lubert” graphic, shown here below, for the next bastard collection, Fw 2010, in stores in September.
