Nicola Giordano new lazy rider

by giuli 25 March 2010

One night i was sitting at my desk in the office and saw Nicola Giordano nailing a sweet treflip on the top flat of the bastard bowl and i went:”Kid’s damn stylish!”. Right there and then I started thinking he could be a good lazy rider.

One of the many advantages of having a bowl in the office is that you can spot new talents without leaving your workstation, but still “live action”.
No more painful youtube sessions!

Nicola is a Milano Centrale local and he’s sponsored by the homonym skate company owned by Gio Onorato that realized the capsule collection Jammin’ Milano Centrale with bastard.

Nicola shares a few impressions on the italian skate scene on the recent VBS publication Skate Europe Season two.

Skate Italy with bastard on VBS TV

by GroS 25 March 2010

Some time ago the producer of VBS TV Chris Gross came visit us, as he was collecting material to make a documentary on the history of skateboarding in Europe, and for the Italian chapter has asked us, among others, for some help.

Thanks to the support of Stefano Pomogranato and Vans Italy finally we can see all 5 episodes that narrate a part of our history, a part because clearly when the whole movement started, there were not only Milan and Rome, there was Turin with the Nelzi brothers, Zampa and Pantaleoni, Genoa with the Contati brothers, there was Verona with Ugolini and Tabacchi …
In these five episodes, very well done, we’re taken on a journey through the history and evolution of skateboarding in Italy from the origins to present times; from the first ollies to the golden years of Giorgio Zattoni, all the way to the bastard bowl, going through Milano Centrale.

In the first two episodes Papik Rossi, Ale Martoriati, Alessandro Gargiulo and Mirai Pulvirenti talk about Roma… Unmissable Mirai on the psycological bump.

The third episode is about the beginnings of the professional career of Giorgio Zattoni. Story told by Giorgio himself with a little bit of melancholy.

The last two episodes deal with Milano with tales from the Giordano bros, Jep, Max Bonassi and Gros.

Lupi on Slide Skatestore video

by GroS 25 March 2010

A few days ago Lupi sent me this video as an appetizer to show me what he is doing in Spain.
With the Nomad team they are in fact going to start filming for the next video, a sort of tour that will involve all their riders and see them in the most famous spots in Spain and beyond.
As usual, the soundtrack of the video of Lupi rocks.

Dumb night – Canedicoda exposition

by davidelp 25 March 2010

Dumb skateboards never rests, after a few months past the release of Too Dumb To Quit they’re back with an event that sounds very interesting. January 29th at the CLAB in Lodi, there will be an exhibition showing all the Dumb boards as artwork and Gio Donadini a.k.a. Canedicoda, will perform live. Beers and happy hour will be following.

This is all we know but it does already sound promising…

Marco Lambertucci indoor session

by GroS 25 March 2010

Winter in Italy, altough quite mellow, for us, spoiled italian skaters, is always a bit of a special season, cold and adverse weather conditions prevent the daily practice. That’s when somebody comes out with the idea of using somebody’s father’s warehouse, that can become a nice spot with everything you need for a fun sesh.
The spot is Andy’s warehouse in Pesaro and the footage is from young filmer Van Khokhlo. Good Job Sbrauser

Vans Bash 09

by giuli 25 March 2010

The bastard store, well represented by Edo Paris, Daniele Galli and Marco Lambertucci, has just participated to the Vans Bash 09, the european final of the “Battle of the Shops”, held at the Zumiez skatepark in Kortrjik, Brussels.

Having won the Italy/Canton Ticino round, the lazy riders had direct access to the semifinal, but unfortunately did not go any further.

As expected, the level of the contest was top notch, and the win went to Hawaii Surf Shop from Paris, that had the craziest team, Bastien Salabanzi, Marc Haziza and Adrienne Boullart.

The Zumiez park is awesome and despite the cold that penetrated inside too, the session was shockingly amazing.

Enjoy the little gallery of videos and photos that i made, also thanks to the help of our friend Elliott Vanderbroeke, who was also our driver/fixer for the event, and found the time to also work at the shop and to take some pics. Nothern efficiency.

Lupi on El Paìs newspaper (Spain)

by giuli 25 March 2010

Raul Lupiañez Martinez, a.k.a. Lupi, friend and lazy rider, just got interviewed on the spanish newspaper El Paìs. I was there for a visit and to shoot some skating with him, and my friend Gianluca Battista, reporter for El Paìs, photographed our routine and proposed the article to the newspaper, that approved and sent a jounalist after Lupi.

The article tells us how Barcellona became the european mecca of skateboarding, the Hollywood of el patìn. Shows us how this industry brings money and tourism to the city of Gaudì, not only worn out ledges and noise.
